While Cleveland has its share of good quality restaurants. I always patronized establishments where either I am familiar with the food or the atmosphere. I will be stepping out of my comfort zone alot this year in many areas of my life (which is scary). But, one of them will be trying new food by exploring the city of Cleveland looking for new places to dine. Which I am excited about. I am kind of a work horse and this would also be a good opportunity to spend some much needed quality time with family, friends, and a few dates along the way! So as I was discussing this with my friend Kyle, and he mention I should try Cleveland Chop. I knew exactly where he was talking about, because I recall seeing the sign as I passed through Downtown Cleveland. So I figured no time better than the present to go. So here are my thoughts. I’m no expert or a food critic. But I do know what good food and service is. So let’s talk about Cleveland Chop!
Cleveland Chop is located in there heart of the warehouse district. I opted for dinner as they serve brunch and lunch as well. I do not cook or eat red meat often. But when I do want a good steak or burger I’m usually going out to get it. You have the choice of valet parking or self parking right across the street. We were greeted by a friendly hostess. I made reservation because I am not a fan of waiting. We were escorted to our seating area. As we were taking off our coats and taking our seats. Shawn our waiter arrived and introduced himself. We were presented with a wine and food menu. Very happy to see a single sheet menu. Direct and to the point. As I do not like to flip through multiple pages of food selections. Shawn was very knowledgeable and gave good recommendations. We opted for a bottle of Cryptic, red blend wine. Which as you see was presented appropriately and served. Next we order an appetizer called the steak cigars. Wasn’t to sure what to expect, but they arrived and one bite was like OMG…these are great! Steak and cheese rolled up in a apporiate size serving, shaped like a cigar. As we were awaiting our entree, Shawn delivered this sweet and moist cornbread served in a small cast iron skillet. Our entrees arrived, in a timely matter. I ordered the 18 oz Bone-In Cowboy Ribeye, with spinach, tomato and mushroom risotto and my guest ordered the Whiskey Braised Short Ribs accompanied with white cheddar mashed potato and green beans, Both were great! My steak was cook perfect, tender, rightt amount of pink inside, and juicy. All melting in your mouth goodness. My taste buds were jumping with excitement with all the flavors I was enjoying that evening.
More than a steakhouse is what they say, and I agree. Between having the capability of dining there for 3 different meals, stopping by for Happy Hour, or watching the game while having a cocktail or two at The Chop Bar. Which I can say yeah, you can go there for more that just enjoying a steak. That was just my choice for the night. I will be returning to have a cocktail or two soon and trying out that nice lounge area. So I appreciate you taking the time to see how my visit went at Cleveland Chop, and I do recommend you visits there if you are in the mood for some good food, comfortable atmosphere and great service. But honestly who isn’t. Check out the website for more details. So what do you think, will you give Cleveland Chop a try? Or have you already dine there in the past. Let me know!
